To be honest, ZenFone AR is the most eagerly awaited ASUS smartphone in 2017. This is because ZenFone AR is very different than other flagship smartphones. What is the difference? Whats great about ASUS ZenFone AR has been reflected in the sales box. The shape is actually quite standard, which is a rectangular box.
But its rather large dimension promises a more complete sales content. Whats inside? Let's open it! Inside the wrapper, there is a black box. Behind the wrapper, there is a transparent mica casing. Well, inside the black box, theres a smartphone unit, PIN ejector, manual guide, and tempered glass.
Then, there are other valuable objects beneath those things, starting from a pair of lenses, USB C cable, power adapter, and a headset that can all be found inside its premium box. What is this lens for? Yes, we can pair it with its simple VR headset that is made out of cardboard. Moving on to its smartphone, ASUS ZenFone AR is a giant smartphone, similar to iPhone 7 Plus. Yet, the screen size is bigger, that is 5.7-Inches.
This screen has minimum left and right bezel, and looks very colorful due to Super AMOLED panel and Quad HD resolution. Oh yes, this screen has already been protected by Gorilla Glass 4. In the chin area, there is a physical home button that can be pressed. While in the back, this smartphone is very, very interesting.
The reasons are its unique camera setup and its material. Lets discuss the material first. The back part turns out providing a comfortable feeling of holding the phone, because it is very soft and made of leather. At the bottom, there is an ASUS logo and an embossed logo of Project Tango.
Moreover, the main camera does look very unique. ASUS named it TriCam System, which is supported by TriTech Autofocus. TriCam indicates that ZenFone AR carries three rear cameras with Google Tango and Google Daydream certifications. So these three cameras are not for zooming, taking bokeh,or black and white pictures.
The main camera is this small one, 23 MP resolution, f / 2.0, 4-Axis OIS, and PDAF. Meanwhile, this big camera is the second camera or a motion tracking camera that serves to capture movement of objects. Last but not least, the third camera or the depth sensing camera serves to measure the distance of the object. To be able to measure the distance between one object to another object; therefore, the third camera is also equipped with infrared.
As mentioned earlier, TriCam System is none other than for the future needs of virtual reality and augmented reality. Its virtual reality has already supported Google Daydream while augmented reality has already supported Google Tango. To feel the benefits, we must install a variety of applications available on Google Play as needed. They are for educational, design and refreshing purpose by playing games.
