ASUS ZenFone 4 Max Pro Quick Review Indonesia

The market of ASUS smartphone in Indonesia relies heavily on entry-level smartphones, one of which is the ZenFone Max series. Since this smartphone is very important, ASUS is continuing its existence with the release of its newest series. Yes! ZenFone 3 Max is one of ASUS main stars in Indonesia for two main reasons: powerful battery and low price. To repeat the same success story, ZenFone 4 Max series come with two variants, namely the regular version and the pro version.

And this is Zenfone 4 Max Pro This smartphone bring the same DNA like the predecessor The basic desain is still look like Zenfone max 3 with some minor change If you think the smartphone includes objects that can boost its appearance, ZenFone 4 Max Pro should be considered. Design wise, this smartphone looks solid, especially from behind. Once held, we can feel that the weight is quite heavy. The weight is 181 grams.

No wonder, for this is a jumbo-powered smartphone. The body itself is made of metal yet sometimes looks like plastic, especially when tapped. Earlier, we mentioned that there was a minor change in the design side. So, what was it? Okay, let's look at the back part.

In this area, there is a box shaped fingerprint sensor. But now, it disappears because it has been transferred to the chin part below the screen, blending with Home button. Unlike ZenFone ARs Home button that can be pressed, the Home button on ZenFone 4 series, including ZenFone 4 Max Pro, cannot be pressed because the key used is the capacitive type. To open the lockscreen, we only need to touch it when the smartphone is in sleep mode.

Back to the back part of the smartphone, another change that we can see is the camera. It is not a photocentric smartphone, but ASUS equips ZenFone 4 Max Pro with two main cameras. The camera is placed right in the middle of the antenna line and inside a rectangular oval frame. The main camera is the right one.

It is 16 MP. With f / 2.0 Aperture supported by PDAF. Meanwhile, the left camera is a secondary camera with 5 MP resolutions and a 120 degree wide angle lens. For selfie, the front camera has 16 MP resolutions with f / 2.0, And equipped with Beauty Live feature.

Speaking of quality, we can rely on ZenFone 4 Max Pros 16 MP camera, both the main camera and the front facing camera. This is because of the shutter lag that is quite agile and the preview that is not delayed when taking pictures with minimal light. The results of the photo look sharp with good color saturation. On the other hand, the results of the wide-angle camera were decent on social media only.

Having 5 MP resolutions and 120 degree wide angle lens, we will see more objects, but losing a lot of details. The dynamic range is degraded as well. One more, we will see a lot of noise when shooting wide angle in low light conditions. Is it disappointing? Not really.

After all, come to think of it, ZenFone 4 Max Pro is a powerful smartphone with a relatively affordable price. So, the not-so-good wide-angle camera can be regarded as a bonus. Yes, the main weapon of this smartphone is its 5000 mAh battery and Reverse Charging 1A feature. ASUS includes a default 2A charger that can fully charge the battery for approximately 2 to 3 hours.

Then, when we try to bring it for a vacation, the batteries can last more than 24 hours with 8 hours SoT. The SoT is actually still less than ZenFone Zoom S which can reach 12 hours. The reason may be because of the difference of its display panel and the chipset used. Zoom S uses AMOLED panel with Snapdragon 625 chipset, which is super efficient.

Meanwhile, ZenFone 4 Max Pro has IPS panel with Snapdragon 430 chipset. Combined with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage, ZenFone 4 Max Pro generates 43,000 points of AnTuTu score. This score is not much different from ZenFone 3 Max ZC553KL. Because the hardware is exactly the same.

As it should be, ASUS ZenFone 4 Max Pro is a reliable smartphone to accompany full day activities or even more than a day. Not only that, ZenFone 4 Max Pro is also good enough to take pictures. As a bonus, ASUS includes a decent wide-angle camera. But specifically, for those who are currently using ZenFone 3 Max, the improvement that ZenFone 4 Max Pro carried was not that much..
